Watch the boats from Rex Smeal Park

$0.00

Right at the end of Macrossan Street the lovely Rex Smeal park fringed with coconut palms right on the water. The channel to the Inlet is right next to this park. All the boats depart from the Marina and head out to the reef from this location in the morning and return from the reef at about 4pm in the afternoon.

On Wednesday evenings the Port Douglas Sailing Club have a race out to Low Isles, which makes for a very pretty picture- the many yachts sailing out against the backdrop of the turquoise waters and the magnificent coastal mountain range.

Park yourself under the coconut palms with a picnic and perhaps a cold beverage and watch the boats heading back from the reef. If you have your children with you there is also a great Adventure playground at this park, along with a BBQ.

If you are there at sunrise or sunset or when there is a low tide I would suggest some insect repellent to keep the sandflies at bay
