Great Barrier Reef Helicopter tour Closure times
From September to April, Undine Cay is closed owing to the migratory sea birds that nest there. For this reason our helicopters fly to a different secluded sand cay on the Great Barrier Reef, called Vlassoff Cay. Vlassoff Cay is closer to Cairns than Port Douglas.
If there are already people on the cay when you arrive at the sand cay, then the helicopter is not permitted to land. Our helicopter pilot then flies to a private beach instead. Passengers can still enjoy an exclusive location and the delicious picnic included in the normal secluded Great Barrier Reef Helicopter Tour.
If you are considering a secluded helicopter tour on the Great Barrier Reef from Port Douglas during September to April… you could also consider a helicopter tour to a tropical rainforest waterfall. A great alternative and swim in the crystal clear refreshing waters in the absolute seclusion of the rainforest.

I booked this for a proposal for my (now) fiance and me. We had an amazing day, and the admin staff were very understanding for the need of privacy and a bit of secrecy to keep it a surprise. Ben, our pilot, was professional and very capable. The location was stunning. Amazing day!
