Our Great Barrier Reef Sailing Charter to Lizard Island is perfect for families that want to see the very best that the Great Barrier Reef has to offer. Lizard Island is well north of Port Douglas, therefore the recommended tour duration is 6 days and 5 nights. In fact, this duration would be a minimum.

Great Barrier Reef Sailing – Itinerary

After a leisurely sail up the coast on our Great Barrier Reef Sailing Charter, your first night is spent at Mackay Cay. Snow white sands lapped by crystal clear tropical waters also provide amazing introductory snorkeling opportunities. Enjoy the magnificent corals and brightly coloured tropical fish.

Continue on your Great Barrier Reef Sailing Charter from Mackay Cay up through the northern ribbon reefs. Spend your days snorkeling, fishing and sailing. The northern ribbon reefs are some of the most beautiful and pristine reefs in North Queensland.

The fresh fish you catch can be prepared for your evening meals. As you have a personal chef onboard, flexibility is the key with the onboard catering. In fact, a private charter provides you with significant freedom.

Great Barrier Reef Sailing – Lizard Island

Finally arriving at Lizard Island! The fourth day of your Great Barrier Reef Sailing Charter sees you sail into the famous Cod Hole at Lizard Island. Snorkel with the friendly giant fish and then sail into Watson’s Bay. Watson’s Bay is your base to explore the very best of Lizard Island. In fact you can also snorkel the lagoon at Watson’s Bay. If you are still feeling energetic you can walk up to Cook’s Look. Another little known fact is that there are other islands around Lizard and plenty of private beaches to explore as well. Our Great Barrier Reef Sailing Charter to Lizard Island allows you enough time to see and participate in a number of fun activities in this tropical paradise.

Finally ,on the sixth day you can continue to explore Lizard Island  or just relax aboard. At the end of the day you  fly back to Cairns with Hinterland Aviation. Flights cost approximately $250 per person. This is an additional expense.

This charter to Lizard Island is most suited to families with teenage or adult children and for people that want to experience the very best of the Great Barrier Reef.

Thank you for such a fantastic day out on the reef last week! It was truly magical and exceeded our expectations. We have been on the reef a handful of times over the last 25 years on a range of vessels from Quicksilver through to smaller operators accommodating around 50 passengers.

Our day spent with you was the first time we have chartered a private catamaran and boy what an experience it was! I honestly don’t think I could go back to any of the other providers now.

From the perfect sailing conditions aboard your comfortable catamaran it really was awesome to have it to ourselves with friends. Plenty of room for us, we all enjoyed sitting on the beanbags on the front deck just watching the world go by…………. Tongue reef was amazing, the best experience I have ever had snorkelling on the reef from swimming with the sea turtle and reef sharks to the abundance of colourful tropical fish and wonderful coral formations. The boys also had fun on the SUP’s looking into the clear turquoise water.

Our skipper was the perfect host and the whole experience was one we will never forget. Until we meet again, will definitely look you up on our next visit to PD thank you for a wonderful day on the reef

My husband and I organised a private charter with this sailing catamaran while we were on our honeymoon, we had never been on the ocean before, but the crew made us feel very comfortable and at ease.
It was an amazing trip to the reef. Once we got out there, we got a chance to snorkel in the reef which was absolutely breath taking, we had never been snorkelling before, but Anthony guided us the whole way and made sure we got the full experience. So that made it even more enjoyable. Following that we enjoy an absolutely beautiful cooked lunch, with fresh seafood.
This was one of the most amazing life experiences that we would highly recommend.
We will definitely be doing this activity again!
So a huge thank you for giving us this great opportunity to experience the Great Barrier Reef.
A great day, with great people and great food.
